Tomas Soucek has delivered his verdict after West Ham and Czech Republic teammate Vladimir Coufal was sent home.
West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal was sent home from the Czech Republic camp, after he ‘fundamentally violated the internal rules’, and Tomas Soucek has responded to the fiasco when speaking to reporters.
Hammers midfielder Soucek, 28, has actually experienced a really successful international break with his country, scoring two goals in two games, although he did suffer a nasty blow to the face against Poland at the end of last week.
However, Coufal’s international break has been the polar opposite to Soucek’s. He was sent home with his tail between his legs a couple of days ago.
It was so unlike the 31-year-old to break the rules so flagrantly. He seems like nothing but a top professional to me.
David Moyes will undoubtedly be disappointed with Coufal’s actions – the Scot is notorious for liking good characters at his club.
But what does his teammate Soucek think of everything?

The Hammers midfielder was speaking to reporters yesterday after the news about his 31-year-old teammate came to light.
Soucek shared his disappointment with reporters, as quoted by České Noviny:
“We want to fully concentrate on the game after this unfortunate incident. We don’t want to go back to it and the whole team wants to fully concentrate. We have a lot of great players here who want to concentrate only on the game,” he said.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know about the action. I didn’t know it was going anywhere. I learned this in the morning when we all had to go into the room and deal with internal things. Then I learned it from the guys, who said they made a mistake and that they regretted it.”
“We all regret it, me as the captain a lot, because I stand by the principles. In the end, the biggest punishment is for them, they wanted to be here with us and achieve a common goal. It’s an unfortunate thing. Even I, as the captain, had something to do with it, we all said it, with the players and with the implementation team. I would leave the answer between us.”
Tomas Soucek was clearly very disappointed by the actions of Coufal, Jakub Brabec and Jan Kuchta.
Fortunately for the Czechs, they won 3-0 against Moldova last night – a result that saw them qualify for EURO 2024. So in the end, the actions of Coufal, Brabec and Kuchta didn’t prevent Soucek and co from achieving their main goal.
Still, it was clear that the 28-year-old West Ham midfielder was not happy one little bit with his teammates’ actions.
Vladimir Coufal was sent home from the Czech Republic camp, and it remains to be seen whether or not he will play for his country again.
