The Minnesota Timberwolves have a talented roster. However, the Western Conference is incredibly loaded with good teams.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will have a completely different season next year. Karl-Anthony Towns will be fully healthy, D’Angelo Russell will have a full offseason with the team, and Malik Beasley will hopefully remain on the team (under a reasonable contract).

However, making the playoffs will be a completely different quest. The last time that the Timberwolves made the playoffs was two years ago, during the Jimmy Butler/Tom Thibodeau era. They won the final game of the regular season against the Denver Nuggets to clinch the eighth overall seed, only to lose to the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs.

This season, there is a four-team race in the Orlando Bubble for the final playoff spot, presently held by the Memphis Grizzlies. The other teams fighting for the eighth seed are the New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, and Sacramento Kings.

The Timberwolves odds at making the playoffs may be, in part, reliant on how good the other teams in the Western Conference are.
