Manchester United and Liverpool supporters are pleading with the Premier League to dish out a firm punishment on Manchester City with a points deduction. The current league champions were banned from European competitions for two years by UEFA on Friday night, after they were found to have broken Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

City were found to have committed “serious breaches” of FFP by UEFA. The club was subsequently banned from the Champions League, although City intend to appeal the decision. Rival fans have taken the opportunity to demand a Premier League points deduction on City. The Premier League are expected to react to UEFA’s findings, and the Citizens could also be in line for a points deduction. One fan tweeted: “Surely the @premierleague will have to look at a punishment for Man City now too, points deduction or in an ideal world they would be stripped of any titles won during the time of the rules breach. “Man City are about to get a points deduction, there [sic] finished man,” added another. One fan claimed: “Should be a 20-point deduction for Man City next season.” Another said: “After what @UEFA have investigated about @ManCity FFP, surely the @premierleague should follow suit with points deduction next season.” One United fan tweeted: “More to the point, how many points deduction will the Premier League give Man City now??” Another supporter added: “If the accusations are true, Man City should also be stripped of their Premier League titles and should start next season with a significant points deduction.”
