Arsenal boss Unai Emery has confirmed former captain Granit Xhaka will be left out for the trip to Leicester City later today.

Xhaka hasn't played since reacting badly to the jeers of Gunners supporters after being substituted in a 2-2 home draw with Crystal Palace.

The Swiss midfielder has also since been stripped of his captaincy by Emery, who is managing the 27-year-old's return carefully.

Asked if Xhaka will return against City on Saturday evening, Emery replied: "Not yet."

He added: "I spoke with him. I spoke with him on Tuesday about how he's feeling now and how he is in his mind.

"He's working well, he's training well, but he said to me that he's not feeling good enough at the moment to play. We are going to wait."

Emery also provided the latest on Mesut Ozil and whether the German will feature on Saturday.

"He's training well and I think he's now being consistent in the training, he's also helping and he's also positive," Emery continued.

"I am thinking about him for tomorrow, for the possibility to play."
