Ki-Jana Hoever is a special talent who could end up helping shift Trent Alexander-Arnold into a midfield role.

The Dutchman made his Liverpool debut at the age of just 16 last season, in the FA Cup defeat away to Wolves.

He also played in last month’s 2-0 victory at MK Dons in the Carabao Cup, scoring the Reds’ second goal.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Jamie Carragher singled out Hoever for praise, also claiming his rise could end up seeing Alexander-Arnold used in midfield moving forward:

It will be interesting to see how Hoever progresses this season, with those at the club rating him extremely highly.

A physical specimen who is also classy in possession, he plays with a confidence beyond his years.

At just 17, he has his whole career ahead of him, with some even seeing him as a centre-back in the long-term.

In terms of Alexander-Arnold, changing his position feels needless for the time being, considering how much he is thriving at right-back.

The time may come when it is more logical to use him in midfield, but that may depend on Hoever’s progress.

Will Hoever be a future regular for Liverpool?
