A brilliant clip has emerged on social media this week, showing Allan Saint-Maximin’s best bits from his electric display in our 1-0 win over Manchester United.

We saw footage leaked from training last week, showing him glide past several Newcastle players with ease before tucking a shot into the bottom corner, but he delivered on the pitch just when we needed to on Sunday.

Here’s some highlights from his impressive display last weekend:

He may not have got a goal or an assist to his name, however he played a key part in the goal and consistently got Man Utd on the back foot with his explosive mixture of pace, skill and exciting unpredictability.

The Frenchman has a long way to go yet, with many across the Channel criticising his inconsistency and lack of final product when he made the £16m move from Nice, however he was a constant thorn in Man Utd’s side on Sunday and caused havoc all afternoon.

In a team that’s lacked spark, flare and match winners, he feels like he could be the key ingredient we’ve been missing and our new Hatem Ben Arfa.

It’s great to have such a fearless player who’s willing to run at defenders. Not only does it allow the team to get back in shape, relieve pressure off our defence and get our ‘defensive’ side up the pitch, it must give the players real belief that we can create something from nothing when he gets the ball. He certainly has that effect on me at least!

The 22-year-old appears to be a real character off the pitch, seeming like a great bloke who’s happy to interact with fans and give to the community, but we’re now seeing just how brilliant he can also be on the pitch.
